A Jewelry Thesis

Examine and illuminate the role of glass as a historical and contemporary jewellery material.

This Thesis shows the background to how glass became an alternative material for gemstones and how it can be re-established in jewellery today.

In order to deal with the topic in a well-founded manner, an excursus on the history of glass production and the development of this material and its historical use in jewellery was considered essential.

As part of this pre-scientific thesis, three unique pieces were developed. These works serve not only as artistic expressions but also as practical reflections of the theoretical framework underpinning the thesis. Together, they form a cohesive body of work that bridges academic inquiry and creative practice.
